This is my first post!
I'm awfully nervous posting here. So I'm starting with a shot that isn't my most favorite but I thought it turned out kinda ok. I did a little post production on it - but it's been like 3 weeks and I can't remember! I think I upped the contrast and the saturation a bit but that was it. This is my hubby having fun on his grandparents trampoline. I'm shooting with the Canon Rebel XT and the kit lens (have since bought a fixed 50 f/1.8!). I wish I could have gotten him between the tree and the trampoline but we were just having fun and this is what I ended up with. Let me know what you think! ![]()

Don't be nervous--the people on this forum are really nice! I'm hardly an expert but--good job capturing the action. The tilted composition works well here because it makes a nice triangle out of the trampoline and the tree, and it leaves your husband oriented upward. I agree with you that it would be nice if he was below the tree, in the middle of the triangle. In my opinion the building is saved from being too distacting by being alligned parallel with the trampoline. The backlighting makes tree and husband a little dark, and the grey sky is kind of bland.
Let's hear it for grandparents with trampolines. |

Hi littleone918 and welcome to the group! Looks like you did have a good time on the trampoline. This was a tough shot for several reasons. First, you were shooting into a large space of white sky that caused your camera meter to underexpose. A little fill-flash may have helped open up some of the shadow areas. I like the angle that you chose to accentuate the height and action. I had a look at your flickr shots and see that you love cats. One of my favorites was "Zach and the kitten." One thing I see in common with many of your shots is that you do not move in close and fill the frame. I don't mean to crowd your subject in the frame but if you look at many of the cat photos, there is much space around the cats that is wasted. After reading about what you wished you could have done, I took the liberty of doctoring up your shot a little with Photoshop. Hope that was OK. Don't hesitate to post more and ask questions. I'll be happy to help where I can.

Welcome!
Great shot ![]() Don't be nervous about posting! I've found everybody here to be extremely helpful. I think of this Critique forum as an educational place. When I've done as much as I can do with a photo that I really like, but feel like there's just something I'm missing, I post it here. Without fail, I've gotten fantastic feedback that has not only helped me to explore Photoshop and different picture-taking techniques, but it has helped me to improve the photos that I love so much! I hope you'll find the same benefits!!

Thanks guys!! I feel welcomed already!
![]() clockdoc: I debated between posting "Zach and the Kitten" and this one. I love that one of him and kitten...she followed us around ALL DAY! The reason for the extra space with the cats is b/c they're farm cats and if I had gotten any closer they ran. And w/ only the kit lens...there was only so close I could get. ![]() Thank you!! ![]() ~Kaye
