Default Hiding Out

While I was out being fly-by buzzed by several bees, I happened to notice this little lady bug hiding in the crevice of one leaf on this mini-sunflower plant.

The photo was taken using my circular polarizer. Photoshop was used to crop & resize the image, but no adjustments to color were made.

(most of the other photos from today can be seen here (I'm trying to keep flickr mostly for threesixtyfive pictures). I took 140 pictures, kept 25, and uploaded 16 of them).

Only nitpick I'd have is that it's to bad he's not lit up a little (very little) better. Good eye.

Yeah, I think if I'd a) been paying more attention and b) not been trying to take photos almost virtually into the sun, I might have eased up on the polarizer a bit, to lighten the colors. I was having a really rough time of it by the time I saw him: I was at the end of my walk, heading back to my car, and my eyes were killing me. I'm surprised I saw him at all

Velvet,
Because I am no where near qualified to be critical of anyones shots I have never said anything. But now I have to say i LOVE this shot. I know it is an opinion but I really love it! I was not focusing on the ladybug, it was the flower! and the DOF. the colors, to me were wonderful. I really enjoy your posts but this was my faovrite.

Hmm..this is a nice pic, but if the title is about the bug, maybe you could have zoomed in a lil to where the bug is, or cropped the pic some just to emphasize the bug. Or, you can just have it titled as "Nature buddies". Hehehehe

I love the colors and the shot! Its a different angle than most would take.....even though focus for you was capturing the lady bug, I think the backside of the flower and the background is amazing! Nice shot, great DOF!

Great shot. Shame the flower couldn't have been facing you.

Nature just so loves to co-operate, doesn't it?

To give you an idea of where I was at, this was the first picture snapped where I noticed the lady bug. Right on the other side of this flower, it dropped off into the creek, a wee bit deeper than I'd have been able to do, and very much out of my reach. (which was the other issue I had yesterday: 5'2" photographer takes photo of 7' flower. Whee!)

Bit of a tough spot to get!
