I love both of these shots. Were they taken at a public aquarium? I really like the way the fish one is framed, can anyone tell me how to do this?

Default Tamron best lens award

The Tamron 18mm - 250mm telefoto lens just won best consumer lens for 2007. Its better than similar Nikkor & Sigma in this class for DSLR cameras. Just thought I would point that out...you may want to view specifics on Tamron's web site. I don't own any Tamron lenses but am going to try this new one out real soon (retails for $500).

These were both taken at a public aquarium.

On the framing, it depends on what tools you have available. I used PhotoShop. My process was to expand the canvas to get the black border and then used the stroke tool to get the inner border, selecting the color from the fish so it would match. Does that help?

Thanks,

PC

I own this lens and it is a great lens. It is my walk around and works very very nicely for 90% of my shooting however there is no image stabilization and is a 3.5-5.6 so it does not work well in low light situations which is why I am looking into getting a tamron 28-75 2.8. I also have the 24-120VR nikor lens but I feel that the tamron 18-250 gives better images overall (not in low light) so I stick with the tamron for my everyday walk around.
