Default Market Fresh

Taken at the newly-opened Asian market near my house. In this particular meat case, along with the chickens, they had chicken feet by the pound, pig intestine, entire ducks (with feet and head and beak still attached) soaked in soy sauce, and an entire pig's head, fried. (That last one was scary, since it still had snout and ears and all.)

I asked if I could take a few pictures, they were quite obliging, so...

RainPacket,

Undignified way to end life. But if I wanted to keep that golden skin while lessening the bright scene outside the window, could that be done in-camera? If so, how would you do it? And are you now a vegetarian?

Lessening the light through the windows while keeping the skin exposed is the sort of think you'd do with dodge and burn tricks in darkroom processing. (In this case, a gradiated polarizing filter wouldn't really have helped, as it would when trying to take shots divided between sky and ground.)

I could probably deal with it in digital post-processing, but not in-camera terribly easily, at least not with my camera. Maybe some can! But, truth be told, in this shot, I kind of LIKE the blown-out light through the windows. I don't really want to see the parking lot outside.

(And I was actually raised vegan; I've since rebelled and gone to eating poultry and fish, but I still don't do red meat. However, I think it's time to go get sushi for dinner.)

Sometimes too much is too much? Thanks for both options. Go. Fish.

I like the "atmosphere" around it

Its quite a common site in markets in spain, where stalls sell raw meat hanging skin or skinless row after row (full rabbits, pigs without heads, chickens without heads, huge ham legs)

Hold on, I might have an example of a "civilised ham shop" from spain
