personally i think you should try reshooting a step back. Plus DOF is a bit too shallow for me. I think if the pin had been turned around focusing on the clasping mechanism might have helped. I gotta get me a macro lens. Good luck with it.

A little too much is out of focus for this to work IMHO. Macro shots have very little depth of field as it is. The closer you get, the less is there. Unless this is what you envisioned, you may have had better success with a normal lens and shooting from farther back and at a smaller aperture. Check your sizing for future postings as this one came through a little wide.

Thanks guys. I like it the way it is because I am hiding part of the pin...I don't want a shot that's so obvious. It's like in CAD software, why would I want to create something that already exists? That's what's great about being artists, you do what you want. Some people will like your work, some people will not. I'm glad that's the way its supposed to be, without variety this would be such a boring world. When people tell me they don't like something, I take it as a reflective compliment, it tells me I am the individual I want to be.

Thanks all for your comments.

I think I understand what you're trying to do. I'm not sure you pulled it off. Different is good as long as it's not different just for the sake of being different. Art is about doing what you want, but art that can't be appreciated is...well...a tragedy!

I think if you step back and evaluate the image, you'll get what you want out of it.

i agree with the comments, the dof is bit too shallow. the pin, where it curves should be in crisp focus. i am sure you can do that easily by reshooting.
good luck
