Nice catch Todd! Was this in the wild or at a butterfly exhibit?
I think I've only seen one butterfly in the wild all year long. Then again Im not really out searching for them. I like the DOF. Nice blur on the background. Was this straight out of the camera?

I planted a butterfly bush in my backyard this spring just to try to catch some humming birds and btrflys. Hey it worked it also atracts bees galore.
As for post process I think I croped it and sharpened a bit other than that no.
maybe the humming birds will come next but I bet they will be much harder to shoot. Thanks for the comment

Really nice shot - I like the colors and texture. FYI - I've found that butterfly's also LOVE lantana (unfortunately, bees do too). If you're looking for hummingbirds, my wife has a really easy food recipe that you make yourself and we've found it to work much better than anything available commercially. If you're interested, PM me and I'll get you the rec. We put out 1 feeder and counted up to 10 hummingbirds at a time fighting over the food!

Todd,

Persistence pays off; this angle is very interesting. 1000 times in my chidhood, I wished I could get that color of blue on paper.
