A bit of back story, first:
I didn't get much in the way of photos yesterday, and I'm not overly thrilled with what I did get (you can see all the pictures here). Mostly, I'd forgotten that while I was playing with my camera one night, I'd changed the contrast, sharpness, and saturation settings, so every photo I took yesterday came out looking a little funny (to me, at any rate). My photo walk was cut very short yesterday, due to some rain. Fortunately, I'd stuffed a plastic bag in my pocket before I got out of my car, so I was able to wrap that around my camera to keep it dry, as I headed out of the park. Of course, the rain let up as I was about 1/2 way back to my car. On my way back to my car, I noticed this red beetle bug on a bunch of white flowers. The contrast was really nice, so I snapped a few photos. Then I noticed his buddy running down the trunk of the tree. I framed, focused, and just as I pressed the shutter release, a big gust of wind came up, moving just about everything around the tree. ![]() I don't know what it is; maybe it's just the 'phantasmal' plants around the tree, but I kind of like how this shot turned out. The little beetle is out of focus, since he was running down the tree, but he becomes almost secondary in the picture - you don't even notice him.

Yeah, I kinda like it too. The defocussing makes it look dreamy.

I like it too. The soft colors and soft focus look almost like a watercolor. The branch with the beetle provides a nice focal point and makes an interesting contrast with the almost abstract background. Isn't it nice when something that happened by chance yields such good results?
