I meant that the photo itself can be used to create a layer mask.

To do it, duplicate the layer and desaturate. Then adjust the levels to create as much contrast beween the sky and the rest of the picture as you can. Then you can use a soft edged brush in overlay mode to create a layer which you can use as a mask to mask out the sky in order to put another sky in.

The technique is most valuable in creating a mask for hair, but it is good for other situations where you want to make a complex mask quickly. It does need a lot of contrast though.

If you are interested, I'll write up a tutorial.

YES< YES< YES I am interested! thank you

and Todd, I like what you tried to do witht he sky. I think I like the purple on the best, but now do you see what I mean? The blue sky didnt go at all, and neither did the orange sky.

That looks good around the far end of the bridge where the oranges and purples match the rocks. However, most of the rest of the original picture looks too blue / cyan to fit with the sky.

I tried to use the color of the sky to tint the blue haze under the bridge. I think if you did that with yours it would look sweet. Just get the haze a little more like the reflection of the sky. Looks great though.
