Default Skating, again

Hi everyone, i've been out skating and taking pictures again.

Here's one of the good shots we got. The guy is one i met skating. He's doing a frontside noseslide, if anyone's interested

Downrail Noseslide

I've retouched it in PS, by making two desaturated layers, making the lower one screen blend, and the one on top overlay. then on top of everything i put a colored layer with multiply blend. Other than that i just played around with the curves on each layer.

Any critique is much appreciated.

Good capture of this action. Not sure of the time of day this was taken but I would go with some fill-in flash (rear curtain sync) to create some shadow detail. It may look better in print form but on my monitor he is blending into the background. Perhaps a slow shutter speed would have enhanced more of the motion involved.

i was also going to comment that this photo could have really used some off camera flash to build the mood. in addition to lighting the front of the skater so he was more visible, you could also meter for the sky so it would be more dramatic.
that said, i like the processing you did.

The shot was taken around 6pm, it werent dark around, i tried to get as much of the guy well exposed as possible, but the sky in the back were quite bright, which made it a bit hard.

I did try to use slower shutter speeds, but as i've wrecked my tripod, i tend to get very shaken photos (i do not have a steady hand ).

Thank you all very much for the critique!
