This is a photo i can decide if i like or not, and i was wanting some feedback. It was the first morning i had my new camera (Fujifilm S7000) taken at dawn. i like the negative space in a way, yet dont in a way. Any opinions are welcome, Im still in the very early learning process :P

See how that works? I just noticed this and curiosity got me to stop - glad I did! I just held up a little mat (8 x 10 in scale) and saw this photo in Portait orientation, starting from just left of center, ending somewhere in the middle of the big trunk on right. Leads viewer down and to the left. Can you imagine? And as it is, I would try to warm up the gold/brown tones on the edges of the brightest area. Or leave it alone. It's always up to you.

I can see what you mean, but seeing it and implementing it for me a two diferent things. Post Production editing has never been my thing. I like taking a photo so that it needs as little work as possible. I tried a few things in photoshop but couldnt quite capture what i pictured. Feel free to try what you where suggesting if you want to, its up to you. I just wasnt able to make it work. but thanks for the tip

Will do. Gives me something to practice on that isn't mine, and I hope it's a way for the author to see if it's worth reshooting, or just an idea that might not have occurred to them at the time. Back soon.

steevdavis62,

DawnX

Hold on to this one (your original) 'cause there is wonderful color in the lower half. Dawn was good for this photo. Personally since I took out the right and left quarter, I don't miss them at all. There may be too much violet in the sky now, I didn't see much color there in the original. Darkened the perimeter, filled in the left with tree color, and uploaded. Absolutely this is a shot worth waking up early to catch.

Now THAT was a good one, thanks for allowing the exploration!

WOW mate, thats quite stunning. I love it alot in portrait. Yeh i think maybe a slight touch too much pink in the left hand side of the sky, but otherwise, mate, beautiful...

I have to admit, although it was quiteearly, because it is looking straight into the sun, it isnt actually as dark as it looks. But hey, wake up half an hour latter and trick your camera into making it darker. I can live with that.
