My sister in trafalger square on a family holiday to London. Ive created a new layer and gaussien blurred that and put that on overlay and reduced the opacity.

SWalton,
Nice capture here. I like the idea that you are trying to achieve. The one thing that jumped out at me when I first saw it was "HOLY COW that is really red!" After that initial shock I would say that it feels a bit oversaturated. You might want to tone it down and see where it gets you (or possibly a cooling filter). The blur looks good except that the background, which looks to be a fountain, has lost some of its distinguishing character. It took me a minute to realize that it was water behind her and not shiny sidewalk. Other than those thoughts, I think it looks good with nice focus on your sis. Good job.

A little oversaturated for my personal taste but if you are happy with it, that is what counts. Placement of the model is OK but with her eyes looking right, I am quickly taken out of the frame. The vibrant fountain background competes for attention even with the saturated red sweater.
