I like them...the little bit of vignetting really is nice. the second is my favorite jsut wish the tree was a bit more off to the right and bike more offset. the guy on the bike looks like chevy chase! Good see hes getting some work re-enacting.

Whoa. Lovely!! They are perfect! I love the first shot.
All you have to do now is add a bit more noise and antique the photo a bit more by adding scratches, etc. and it would look like it was really from WWII. |

Sometimes you just dont get a lot of c & C, especially when they are really good and there is nothing to critique.
I like the way you did these, especially the first one.

I love the first one. Can you tell me why you went with b&w though? My Grams has me retouching the ones from Grand dad's days in the Army and wants them all in color.

It can take a while for people to get through all the posts...doesn't mean they're crap or that there's any sort of secret clique...
![]() They're very good, but do you have any straight up shots without the vignetting or blown highlights? I'd like to compare them. That fellow in the sidecar in the second picture looks like he belongs there...very commander like.

first, id like to say iam sorry for my last post. i feel quite the spoil little kid throwing a tantrum. second, thanks for your replies.
@ Val1064. i went with b&w because thats how pictures came out in thoses days. i wasnt around in thoses days, colour just doesnt seem right to me. your grand parents are lucky to have seen it in full colour and remember it that way, i envy them in a way. i have to say, i have a real obsession for that time period in our history not just the war ,but the way people lived also. @ windrider86 thanks for your kind words. i find it hard to beleave that these shots, or any picture i take "are really good",but i suspect its my problem. my wife tells me all time that i set my standards way to high and my goals, in everything i do. i dont think thats a bad thing, but it does bring a lot of frustration my way. @ matthewchj thanks matthewchj. this is my second attempt, in the first ones i done i did at a lot of noise and scratches, but its not what i wanted. that is the type of picture you find at the bottom of someones trunk after sixty years. i wanted the just taken look. @ ellie mac thanks. i do understand that its not everyones idea of a lovely picture. i love landscapes, but ive ran out of places to go. @ peeperita thanks. yes it was a conversion from color. my intention was to make it look like a new photo ,but taken with an old style camera, with blown highlights and dark shadows. @ Robin Sarac thanks. i think the man in the sidecar, who to me has a look of donald pleasence makes that pic more authentic, for wanting a better word. as requested here are the colour uncropped versions ![]()
