![]() hey all, I've been gone on a 3500 mile road trip on my Harley and shot over 900 awsome pictures. No this one is old as I havent had a chance to get to the new ones yet. But I will! I shot this awhile ago with my Olympus e500. Exif info is not available since I applied hdr effect. What do you think?

I used Paint Shop Pro x2. Just got it today and was pretty excited about it. I dont usually like the "overdone" look but really like the HDR effect in general. I did not shoot this particular picture in RAW mode but wish i had. I have this tendency not to because it uses up so much space on my memory card. And I beleive I used 4 different shots to get to this final effect.
Tone mapping? Nope I am not famiar with that, but am certainly interested. Could you tell me more?

I have no personal experience with HDR except with some tests I ran on Photomatix Pro's demo. As I recall, in going through the process of combining multiple exposures of the same scene at different exposure values, I also tried "tone mapping" a single RAW image. It did not present the depth of color that the multiple exposure did but was an interesting effect to say the least. Here is a link to the Photomatix site at HDRSoft that may be of interest: http://www.hdrsoft.com/support/faq_p...ml#differences
You may want to try doing a scene with a high contrast range both from RAW files and whatever file form you used for your road trip shot below (JPG, TIFF?) and see how they differ as I have read that to gain maximum effect, you should start with RAW image files.

it may be my monitor, but the clouds directly above the horizon all have some bluish tint to them? the upper clouds and the foreground looks fine. i think if you were able to correct the blue tint it'd be an awesome shot. must have been an awesome road trip!
