Cool White is the theme..

For me, there's a little too much light reflecting off the flower. The flower itself is beautiful and I think I can see what you were going for, but I still vote for a crisp focus on the center of a flower. The stick and reddish brown thing on the left side are a little distracting too. I think this would look better if it was cropped closer and some of the distractions in the background were cloned out.

Is this a flower you can shoot again? I really like the curls and shape of the flower and I'd love to see it focused.

I think I agree with Adam about the sharpness. This particular flower has almost geometric shapes about it and would lend itself better to being sharply shot. A flower such as a rose with its inherent softness might withstand a softer focus better. I find myself straining to see the interesting curving center petals (?). Really beautiful and interesting flower, though.

Unfortunately, I cannot find the flower again. I'll try but it's hard.
Thank you for the comments.

One of the most challenging assignments I have ever had along these lines was photographing "white-on-white." This was back in the days of using a 4x5 view camera, Tri-X film and a combination of exposure, developing and printing techniques. The challenge was to make a successful black and white print that held detail in a white bath towel on which was placed a bar of white Ivory soap. You had to be able to see the texture of the towel and the name on the bar of soap. Give it a try some rainy day!

Hmmm, I think this photo would be much more enjoyable if it were sharply focused...and almost over sharpened. Or if it were diffused, maybe?
