Default Ballroom...

Here is a shot I took in an old abandoned building. This place is really a gem, and I need to go back. I had to climb a 7 foot fence then go 12 floors up the fire escape stairs to climb into a window. I guess it used to be a nice club. There are kitchens, bars, racquetball courts and tons of other things inside, including this ballroom. Tell me what you guys think of this shot and also if you have any other interesting ideas for when I return. I was thinking about having someone sit in the chair and stand in various spots throughout the room to give it a ghost-like appearance.

Oh yeah, since I still haven't fixed my EXIF issue...I remember this was a 30 second exposure at ISO 100 or 200. I think my aperture was f/8 or 11? Other than minimal and typical RAW processing I added a slight vignette.

interesting subject here love the colors. definately makes it feel old and spooky. it is a little too dark tho. I mean the dark is good to set the mood but I feel it is a touch too dark. Do you have any other shots? perhaps shooting out of the corner of the room?

There are a few other ones on my Flickr...nothing too great though. I was with a few other guys and they weren't down for the photography part...they just wanted to explore the place. For that reason I didn't take too many photos.

Next time I'll go for the specific purpose of taking photos though and get a lot more shots.

Thanks for your input Cozumel.

yeah an interesting photo I think would be from the left corner so you are shooting at all the windows and all the stuff piled up there. A person standing infront of the windows would be lit up nicely and since you are using such long exposures it will be easy to get that ghost effect by just having the person walk around the frame.

This looks like a really cool place with a lot of potential. I like that it's abandoned, but haphazardly. It looks like eveyone just ran out in a hurry leaving random things behind. Like Rex said, with a little more light this would be really nice. Just don't get caught trespassing!

Yeah a little dark, but wow, what a great place to photograph! I don't recommend trespassing, but if I had a chance to revisit....
