Default Jumping in at the deep end...

I've had my new DSLR (Olympus e-510) for two weeks now and have been 'playing' in the garden with it.

I'm amased at the quality of the image it captures...much beter than my old 3MP Sony...

As well as finding out how the camera operates, I'm trying to use some of the techniques I've found on DPS. I've not had much oportunity yet as things have been hectic at work. Hopefully, I'll graduate to the real world soon.
Anyone got any suggestions/comments??

I typically don't like flower shots but this one appeals to me. The only thing I see wrong is that the center is too bright, almost blown out, to the point you've almost lost the details. You may want to re-shoot this one either without direct light hitting it, or somehow deflect the light.

It's like a flower within a flower. I like it.

OK, so i've been naughty and have loaded it into bighugelabs and am looking at it on black... I quite like it... maybe a bit toooo much light in the middle... but it's nice all the same.. What time of day did you shoot him? (edit) ah....2pm... maybe try a little later in the day?...

Nice shot. For my personal taste, I would prefer the bright yellow area to be a little smaller (not cropped so tightly) as it tends to overpower the softer hues of the flower petals.

jrhart, Welcome

This appeals to my senses of color, composition, and level of competent photography. For what that's worth, I believe you have a fine photo.
