The tree branch is a little distracting perhaps moving to a different vantage point would have taken care of that. The photo is a little bit at an angle. Not enough angle to really server and artistic purpose but enough angle to be distracting. Also your subject is smack in the middle of the frame making it look more like a snap shot rather than an artistic looking shot. Also I wonder if a wider aperature would have been better for this shot giving the background building a nice blur. (This can be fixed in post processing as well)

In fact, for a shot like this it is often worth thinking about whether you can frame it without any sky at all. On an overcast day or out of direct sunlight it is impossible to get the right exposure for the sky and the foreground without using some kind of filter.

I agree about the angle. It looks like the shot is leaning slightly. The buildings in the background are slightly distracting as well as the tree branch. I threw a little editing on it and this is what I came up with it. If you mind, let me know and I'll take it down.

Thanks guys, The shot was just taken in auto mode. Your comments will help me when looking at taking future photos as I'm just learning about aperture and stuff now. I'm also going to look at framing the shots better. |
