Default Eden Valley Morning Mist

I shot this on a November deer hunt. We haven't taken a deer in years, just like to camp and enjoy the fall forests.

The blown sky kills this. It attracts the eye, and distracts from the rest of the image.

Baseball, There was no sky, just coastal fog. Maybe a blue NIK filter would help? We don't see sky for weeks in the fall and winter around here. LOL

I love the atmosphere of this shot. There's no single, strong subject, but I basically like everything my eye wanders to. You can just feel the cool, damp air. This looks like somewhere I'd love to spend a couple of weeks!

I think a graduated ND filter should have been used.

it's a shame the sky is blown out. that totally ruins the shot. i would have also preferred landscape orientation and a wider lens. the small portion of the fog and the trees in the center is great, but the composition leaves much to be desired.

campco7,
This has me anticipating winter (and long snowmobile rides). This is EXACTLY what I see when in the mountains, ground fog, trees peeking up through it and a blown out sky when it's beginning to burn off!!! I think you caught this shot perfectly. Some things just can't be improved upon...GREAT SHOT!!

odark, I guess you have to live up here to understand the difference between fog and a blownout sky. Our Winter is blownout. LOL Where in the NW do you live. The area that the photo was taken is just a few miles north from where the Kim family was stranded last year. You just down travel on one lane forest roads in the winter and you better believe the road warnings. Every year people try to travel these remote roads without supplies or experience. Sad. But then, every summer folks think they can run the rivers w/o wearing a PFD. Be smart. Be safe.

I live in South Eastern Washington. We ride in the Blue Mountains and in the Cascades. The Cascades have more challenging terrain. We started riding in Halfway, Oregon when our snow was marginal. The riding there is very similar to the Cascades but the trees aren't as dense. (We have LOTS of photos)! We also ride the Mt Bachelor area. What I see, thru the lens, is usually fog, blownout sky or such bright blue sky (on those COLD CLEAR Days) that it's almost hard to look at!
