Sony Alpha 100 Kit Lens(18-70mm)@20mm F/8, 6 Seconds

This was one of my first long exposure night time "portraits". What do you think, and how do you think I could have improved on it?

For a portrait, I find a lot of distractions - strong light causing lens flare, the fence which is not parallel to the frame, the portion behind the subject (behind the upright). 6 secs for a portrait has a strong chance of the subject moving. The light looks nice, my suggestion would be to concentrate on the main subject and to try and eliminate as much distraction as possible.

This is a different approach to a portrait than I have seen in a while considering the long exposure time. Seeing the prominent streetlight makes me think I might try to position it behind the subject and see what results. Since the lights on the road behind are linear from the passing cars, they don't add as much impact as lights from another source or direction might add. Nice work on illuminating the face. Did you use any post production here? Keep shooting along these lines. I look forward to your next "long exposure" portrait and hope others will give the technique a try.
