I don't know how much control you have with your camera. I like the glow of the flower but it is a bit too strong and you lose detail from the petals and the insect. If possible, you could try underexposing slightly, which should still give a sense of light but perhaps show a bit more texture and form as well.

Thank you guys!

wulf, my camera does have -2EV to +2EV. I used the Default 0EV. Should i have adjusted the exposure toward the - side?

That might have helped.

Here is a bit of homework for you. Find at least one scene and take a shot at each exposure setting. A good starting point might be recreating this picture, even if the insect isn't available to pose

When you get back to your computer, compare the results. That should help you learn more about how much control you have with your current equipment.

Hi Scot and welcome to the group. Nice first submission! I cannot add to what has already been offered except to second Wulf's suggestion to do some testing to learn more about the capabilities of your camera.

G.Scot, Welcome

Is this original, or have you cropped? One change I'd make if retaking (besides above-mentioned slight under-exposing) is to allow more room around bloom, and leaves at left. Otherwise a very good photo.

I think this is another beautiful shot! The flower does seem a little too bright. In my opionion, this takes away from the color.

Thank you all for your comment and suggestion.

jiminyClickit, i did crop the photo. The original has a bit more leaves to the left, which i thought was destracting.

I will keep under exposure in mind for my homework.

Cheers!

Default surprised at exposure settings

I guess I was surprised to see that you shot this at f5.6 at 1/320s and it turned out that good. You'll probably be amazed to see how rich the yellow will pop when you expose for less than 1/100s at ISO 100. Nice shot.
