Default My first post for a critique: Airforce Museum

I recieved my Pentax K10D (first DSLR) and the Tamron 18-250 a few days ago. The airforce museum was very dimly lit and the lens was not suitable for low light. This museum has lots of great exhibits and I have to make a vist once I get a faster lens like the 50 1.4. Of the 80 odd shots, I think this came out ok. What do you guy's think? and how do I improve.

Thanks!

Nice record shot of the aircraft in a museum setting. You did well with that lens considering it must have been a 'slow' one and required a longer exposure time. What yhis hand-held or shot on a tripod? Good work for your first submission!

Thanks. It was hand held, but the K10D has the inbody image stabilizer which certainly helped. The exif data was erased by the noiseware (free edition).

Nice! I like the way the background is almost completely black.

Mat, it's the bg compared to other pictures and the exposure that made this photo to be decent IMO. Thank you for your comments.

Lee,...you mentioning 'record shots' made me think,....do you think shots from different perspectives like the following help even in these 'exhibit' situations.

Airforce museum (9 of 50)

Airforce museum (13 of 50)_filtered

I did'nt want to start a seperate thread, as it is sort of related.

I like the first shot you posted best. I love that the background is essentially black. Very well done for a hand held shot. (hooray for image stabilization)

I wonder, though, if you could clone out the plane that's in the very top right corner? It's not overly noticeable, but when you go looking around the shot it starts to jump out at you.

Thanks for the comment KagoGirl. This cloning is very easy so i was able to do it within seconds. I wish I could get the bg from other photo's cleaned up this easy

Default Cluttered Background

My husband is an aircraft broker. One of my "Jobs" is to de-junk the backgrounds of his images for magazine ads. PS's extract filter is the easiest way I've found.

Odark, thankyou for that post processing. I like it very much. This gives me a totally different perspective and I think I can shoot a lot of different angles which I did not due to bg clutter. I know how to extract, but how is the deleted area black.

Do you later fill in the deleted area with black, if so how?

OR do you pick the underlying layer to be black instead of the checkered pattern so the deleted area appear black, if so How?

Also, a FYI, the front glass of the cockpit is deleted in your extract, no biggie!

Thanks!

P.S: I think I got it....
