Default nice flower & butterfly

That was a nice picture and nice soft aperature used. I would only suggest to have a brick background only and maybe a tiny bit of light to highlight the butterfly...otherwise very nice.

How big is the original? I think there is the potential to crop it down a bit to focus on the action - the wall has a nice soft blur but doesn't add much to the subject and so you can afford to lose some of it.

Wulf

ps. ... and welcome to DPS

Wow, the crop is much better! I didn't even notice that the spider was enjoying a meal in the first shot. Second go is a keeper.

BTW, welcome to the forums!

Hi Julie and welcome to the group. What an interesting shot with both the butterfly and spider. I like the soft lighting and pastel tones of the flower. The crop of the second image works better IMHO. You have a good eye. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

juliehinton33, Welcome

To give you a choice for upcoming shots like this: I would have leaned against wall, and focussed on front of spider and butterfly, giving a better "action viewpoint" and a grassy background. Even if it meant taking it upside-down. You did well in the edit; it's a rare sight indeed.

The crop definitely helped, as I hadn't noticed the spider in the original
