I developed the photo in Lightroom, adjusted the exposure and increased the fill light. I brought the photo into Photoshop, then cropped the photo.



The shot is into the sun, so some of the colors are muted.

Love the composition with the diagonal (and, I love ducks!) Like matthewchj said - is it possible to get a little more light on the duck? Nice shot!

OK, Can't lighten the duck much more, because in the original, the duck is almost a sillouette. Here it is lighter, and a tighter crop.

That's more like a duck, legs are a good orange to provide that one bright spot in the scene. Water color under right side branch is more a part of it now, too. Nicely done; centered is just about the only reasonable crop, isn't it? To keep the branch and not put duck bill close to left frame. Did you try any contrast?

I don't normally edit other people's pix and re-post them, but I thought that one thing this picture lacked was contrast. Especially on the duck...it's very flat.

Here is my curves and levels adjustment. Nothing fancy, just a little more of an S curve and I brought the black and white levels 'in line' with the left and right sides of the histogram. Done in The GIMP. No 'select this part of the duck and do twenty million things'... I just did it for the whole image. (I am not very good at advanced editing.)
