Both very nice shots! But there are a couple of things I'd like to see in each (and this is just my opinion, I'm far from a professional here).

In the first, I'd like to see less head on the right side. Because it's so dark I find it takes away from the light shining on his face. I think I might also like a slightly darker background, or perhaps just a lightly less exposed one - it seems a little washed out and bright. But the pose is neat and the perspective quite promising, I just find the bright space between the leaves and the very dark and large head a bit distracting.

In the second one I'd like to see more light on the face to make the eye stand out and less on the background. Also, you might want to get the eye more in focus. It's close and it could be the lighting, but it doesn't seem quite sharp enough.

A very good start to the shots though. Play around with lighting, focus and exposure and you'll get some great results!

Hey, it's slightly better but I still find myself looking at the background first and the eye second - the background it too bright for us to focus our attention on the eye.

Hi. I think you have a good eye for capturing interesting facial compositions. Technically, the first one needs a bit more sharpness and shadow detail. I tried to find EXIF data but could not. Can you provide details such as the camera, lens, ISO f/stop, etc? That really does help me in providing a more meaningful critique. Your second image is mich stronger except for the bright background competing with the subject. Perhaps you cpould have achieved the same lighting effect but from an angle that would downplay the background. The bright background may also be influencing your exposure and thus losing shadow detail. Keep at this shooting style and I feel you will come up with some excellent images!
