Default Field of dreams

Please tell me your thoughts and suggestions on improving this shot!

This was taken close to my home about 1 mile away. There is lots of wildlife to be found here.

I like it, but I think this spot should be revisited at sunset/rise. It would add a glow to the grass and solve the totally blown out sky. I think it's a nice subject, but it needs a better lighting environment to really make it pop.

This was taken on a very overcast day in the late afternoon.

It looks like a good location but I'm left wondering what the "subject" is (ie. what I'm meant to be looking at). For example, is it the field of flowers or the bird box? That is often the case with these middle distance shots - too far away to have a clear subject but too close that you can point to a mountain or a valley as what the photo is all about.

Perhaps you could take another shot in the same location but get something in the foreground - maybe the bird box or perhaps squatting down so some of the flowers are sharply focused and clearly detailed?

I guess I was planning on the bird box as my point of subject.

But since you mention it, and I look back on the photo, both flowers and box could be the focal point.

If I was to make the bird box closer in the foreground, I also would have the tree line very close. Would this make an interesting shot?

Perhaps tomorrow I'll go out and shoot the same with your suggestions. But tomorrow is suppose to be rainy. Do you think a rainy shot of this would be good? Also my wildflowers are not as plentiful now because cool weather is moving in.

Moe,

While you're shooting, consider that the "face" of the bird box will work better looking into the largest open area, so that in your shot here, it would be better turned to (shot from) the other side, so that opening is pointed to right. If you place it in a new shot into the right side of frame, then it would be better pointing as above, to left. Small point, does make a difference.
