I wasnt happy with the shadows on the petals so thought I might try something different. Not sure of this so thought I might ask your opinions

Took a min. for my eyes to adjust :-) .....I really like it but I tend to like things that are out of the ordinary. I like the sun's rays on the left side of the petals, the clarity is nice, and gently fades into the shadows.

Default Very interesting

This is a nice shot, I like the idea... Did you use Photoshop to do this? If you did I would recommend feathering the selection so that the colored portion isn't so sharply divided... It looks like two copy&pasted images...

I actually used Paint Shop Pro. Layered the images and the desaturated the copy and then ereased the part i wanted to be left in color. Thanks for the top I will try featheruing the edges on the next one.

Well done with that eraser, you even left black in between the orange stalks and it looks like a hard edged selection, WOW!

Excellent work! I don't have the patience for this type of work, so I appreciate the results that much more. A unique and lovely take on a flower macro.

Which version do you use?

I think it is good, and I also would have feathered or even perhaps used the eraser but with the opacity turned right down, well also that depends pon what version ur using as well. there's more power in the version from 9 up really.

Not that I like being the lone dissenter, but the pistils are too bright to me. Maybe if you desaturated them just a little, that might help. Right now, they are screaming out of the shot, instead of just standing there above the rest.

The process and the thought is good, I just think the end result is a little off.
