Default A Series of Tubes

If you want to kill me for using an internet meme, go ahead:

A Sharper Series of Tubes

Of course, feel free to just say whether you like it, what you like... but I have specific questions:

1) Is it too low-contrast? It looks fine in Bibble and iPhoto, but it seems brighter and flatter in a web browser. I'm pretty sure I have attached the sRBG profile to it... I've noticed that color profiles are just a PITA. Any hints? (I'm a Mac user btw, and I shoot in sRBG. that photo was a RAW photo.)

2) Uhm... I guess I only have one specific question. Oh, should I have tried to white balance it? I like the way my camera auto-balanced to the 5:30PM afternoon sun, but I'm curious what others think.

It does look a bit flat. You could try putting another layer over the top in overlay mode and then adjusting the opacity to get the desired level of extra contrast.

I saw you give this tip on another thread the other day Wulf and I'd like to thank you for that day's top tip and heartily recommend it! It was my learning point of the day

I think your white balance is dead on.

But I agree that the photo is flat, and I think contrast is a place to start. I am way in over my head re colourspaces and such, but here is my simpleton's advice: how does the histogram look when you pull up a levels layer? Moving the sliders can make such a big difference.

Elay's advice is sound (simple solutions do work most of the times!) ...

Your histogram is shifted to the right (highlights side) and if you move the black point to meet the beginning of the slope in the graph you have a much deeper image:

You know, that's what the image looks like when I view it in iPhoto or Bibble.

When I look at it in my browser, it looks much flatter, and you all see it the same way. That's why I'm saying, something happened here that I don't understand

I will probably play around more with this very soon, though...
