Default Wet Reflections

Unending rain, dampness everywhere, dull light even in day time; so just picked up the camera and clicked the reflections of iron grill on the wet windowsill.

I really like the water being the central focus of this picture. would cropping the top edge down to the level of the dark reflection improve the balance???? - I'm new and have no idea. I like water pictures though

subrataofkris,

The edges of the shadow are very sharp, and seem dark at the edges. Any edit work there?

Used unsharp mask to sharpen, no other work done.
Rotated and cropped the picture to eliminate the grill from top
Here's the original

I almost like the orginal better as I would not have known what the picture was without your description. The second shows a bit of what you are aiming for as a focal point. I like the concept and of course you have a keen eye to even see that and decide it would be a great picture. Most folks would never even think of shooting this!

DrEm, that's a good suggestion, thanks.
JC, I answered your question, have I oversharpened?
windrider86, thanks for the encouragement.

subrataofkris,

It makes sense now, seeing original. The reflection is causing surfaces under water to darken, suggesting something else to my eye. A shadow would not look like this, but a reflection does. Your edit is fine, once the original is understood. Something more in the way of a subject (color contrasted) would draw more interest, even though this does cover the title and atmosphere of a rainy day.
