I personally think nothing is as great as natural lighting for photography. Studio shots are a different story of course.

Anyway, this photo seems to lack some color. I'm not quite sure why because it looks like it has direct sunlight which should give it good colors. If it was an overcast day then I would expect something like this. I suggest you saturate the colors some more.

well, if you're concentrating on natural lighting, i'd probably suggest shooting during the golden hours around sunrise/sunset. you'll get more warmth and glow. you stated you took that at 9:30 am, i would have guessed high noon based on the light being so harsh. here are my thoughts/suggestions:

could use a bump in saturation
a polarizer filter would eliminate some of the reflections on the wings
watch the crop because there's that little piece of the flower that's cut off on the bottom
lastly, if you rotated just a wee bit to your left, that purple flower that's out of focus wouldn't have been in the background. it would have made the in focus flower stand out that much more.

is that a heavy crop? i don't know how 15mm could get that close! don't take my above critique as harsh. i think it's a great shot with lots of potential and it's extremely sharp where it needs to be.

This was a blue sky day. I was concern about casting my shadow taking the photo. So, where my colors? I want to get away from editing in PS.

I was trying for natural colors, Why at 9:30 A.M. would this produce such a hash color?

I liked the colours and light in the photograph, but did not like the crop as it is not stressing on the bee. So I did a bit of PS, hope you did not mind
