Default Nice beaver!

So... I went on a cycling trip over the weekend, and on Saturday stopped in a camera shop. They had a Canon 30D on sale for $999.99 including a bag, extra battery, training DVD, and a car charger. I hemmed and hawed for about 15 minutes before hurting my credit card. Since it was in New Hampshire, I saved $60 in tax, so I bought a 2 gig memory card for it.

I played with it for the next couple of days, and got a few good shots, after taking about 200. We were staying in a remote lodge in the new Hampshire highlands, and there was a beaver pond near by. I took a bunch of shots Sunday evening, and some more Monday morning. This was from Monday morning.

I croped the shot, and adjusted the levels and curves.

Quo Fan,

Mostly, it looks like about all you could do, has been done. It appears monochromatic because the subject is, mostly browns with enough green to say "outdoors, not Winter." Good catch on the face and paws, a little saturation could add interest.
