Default Piedmont Sunrise

I got up early and drove to the mountains north of here for this shot over the weekend. I cropped the image a bit and reduced the noise. I had left ISO on auto, and now wish I had used a lower setting.

The horizon line was a bit of a problem. The cloud into which the sun was rising and the hill were not parallel to the true horizon line. Even though it was accurately portrayed, it still looked a bit out of kilter. I rotated the image so that the light lines are parallel with the top and bottom of the image.

Suggestions and comments are welcome.

I like this one. Muted colors and the softness of the image work well together.

The image evokes tranquility.
The only thing I would have done is to place the sun somewhere to the right or left of the frame instead of at the middle.
A nice reward for having to wake up early.

The monochromatic colour gradient in the mountains is great.

I think I would crop out a tiny bit more of the sky, and maybe get the horizon closer to a "rule of thirds" line. I don't think we should always follow that so-called rule, but it can help in some images. My eye seems to follow the mountains, from bottom of frame to top, gets to the sun and wants to keep going up to see what is up in the sky, but there isn't really anthing interesting up there. If you cropped out a tiny bit more of the sky, I think it would prevent the empty sky from stealing emphasis from the real meat of the photo: the sun and mountains.

But that's just my two cents. It is a great shot as is.

I really like sunrises and sunsets, so that´s the kind of photo I can´t stop looking at It keeps me hipnotized.. I think it also gives a foggy sensation that is nice so I would try to reduce a little noise but not too much.
