Sometimes I feel when there is only one object tha you are to concetrate it is better placed anywhere but on the central lines. Also it would have made a little improvement had the DHL read well. you cant complete D and H.

I don't know how Cannon Poweshot handles DOF, but, EXIF says f/3.5, 1/1600 and flash??. I would definitely like to increase the DOF so that the clouds and balloon are sharper and place the bright yellow subject higher. I don't mind breaking the rules here and placing it at the center as pointed out by akshat

I'm not so sure you has to be int he middle but perhaps less sky on top might add to this. Also a more dramti sky with bolder clouds would really add to the balloon.

Hi dbOyd13! I like that contrast you have of the yellow ballon against the blue sky, plus all the interesting cloud patterns. You did a good job catching a moving object with a fast shutter speed. One of the things that could help improve the shot is to compose it differently. Placing the balloon right at the bottom of the image and smack in the middle leaves too much sky at the top and gives it a feeling that it is sinking rather than soaring. We've been talking here at the forum and the blog about breaking the rules, but in this case, I think following the rule of thirds would make a better photograph.

Saralonde, which quarter do you suggest? I thought of placing it on each of them, but still it seems to much sky and less balance.

For my 2 cents, I would have liked to have seen just a little bit more sky under the ballon and maybe have the ballon off-center.

dbOyd13, Welcome

Generally, as in a flower bloom, having the sunlit side looking into more space is preferable. So your balloon would appear better if the extra space were slightly above and on the right. Even if you centered it top/bottom, pushing it to the left third would help. Just getting it away from the frame edge will improve it.
