Directions

This is at the OSTSEE in the North of Germany; Not too far from Hamburg. I was fascinated by these directions and i thought I'll keep a souvenir of them. Can you people please tell me what and how i can improve on this image?

Drax, Welcome

A tall pole shape might better be presented as a portrait-oriented or square format, including all of the top, and lighting the shadow areas better. Some clue about where this is positioned (side of the highway, rest stop, city street) in the foreground or background would add to the interest. Reminds me of M*A*S*H (US television program).

Hi Drax and welcome to the group. I agree with Jiminy's comments. Also, on shots like these where the sky plays a dominant role, you will have to override your camera's auto metering system and perhaps use a spot mode or bracket. You captured the writing because of the bolder white letters but lost most all shadow detail. While not that important in this particular shot, in other shots, critical shadow detail may make the difference between a great photo and one that is beyond repair. Nice capture of the signs!

I really like this shot. the only thing i can think of is, it's too bad there wasn't more color in the sky.
