Default Skull

Here's one of my tries at exploring shape and texture (and the eye socket pulling me in).

I added the warm tint, unsharp-masked it a bit. EXIF:

ISO 80, 1/60, f/3.5, No Flash, handheld, 16.8mm (Canon S3 IS).

I could blur that side of the background that shows darker. I do like the texture on the left side of the image (if you are facing it).

Thanks for your insights,

Scampi

Default Nice color!

Hi Scampi:
I like the color of the photos. Also the angle in which you took the photo is great to. The only thing I would like to see is more skull. I think it's a little bit to croped, but that are just my thought. The rest of the picture is amazing!
Thanks for sharing it!

Very interesting picture - especially the crop made me look twice before I could see the skull (how it was facing). Of course the title give a hint.

Very nice shot. I was looking at it from my work in a lousy monitor and then in my calibrated LCD and then on my old CRT monitors. Only in the not so well calibrated CRT the front of the skull was well exposed. Even in my calibrated LCD the front of the skull area inbetween the eye sockets there are no details on either side of that middle fissure. I am curious whether everyone sees the details right of the big eye socket/around the middle fissure or is it washed out.

When it's viewed with the right monitor it looks well exposed, but my calibrated LCD shows it to be overexposed. Curious what others see ????

I see a lot of detail. I really like this shot, and I like how it is framed as it gives the skull more of a surreal look and feel.

I think it'd be great if we were able to see more of the skull and perhaps have a dark background which would contrast with the light color of the skull. It would really make it stand out. You might have to use an unnatural light source for that though. You could try increasing contrast--especially in the shadows.
