Default First Wedding with Nikon D80

I went to a wedding a couple weeks ago in Vermont on a sunny beautiful day. The wedding was held outside and the problem was that the contrast from sunlight to shadow was huge.

I took a couple of pictures and either they where too dark or too light.
Finally I changed the setting to vari-program, portrait, attached my SB600 flash and left it that way all afternoon. I took about 400 pictures and I think most of them came out pretty good.

Here are a couple, what do you think?

Fill flash is the most important thing when you're dealing with that kind of harsh lighting. An ND filter might take the edge off of some of the highlights and help if you have issues with shutter sync speed.

Don't be afraid to crop your shots a bit. The third one could have been taken vertically, but you can alwys crop off the extra on the sides. If you open up your aperture you can blur the background a more, too.
Overall, you got some nice shots of the day.

Thanks Saralonde for noticing, I usually do crop as tight as I can, guess I missed this one, I usually try to stay within the aspect ratio of 5*7 which this one would not have fit.. here it is re-cropped. I'll probably play with it some more in PS to get rid of the the chair

4x7 or 4x6? Images straight out of camera are 4x6. I usually try to stick with "normal" print ratios (4x6, 5x7, and 8x10).
