Default Burrowing owl

Any advise?
I shot this early in the morning using a 300mm lens without a tripod.

Very sharp for 300 without a tripod. I would never been able to hold it that still. Good job!

Great detail around the eyes, esp. since you said no tripod! Too bad the foot is blurry--perhaps an additional crop of just the upper body?

Very nice. I agree with alissasanderson crop of upper body would improve.

I like the way the image was taken.

The shallow depth of field provided a tool for composition, i.e., a point of focus.
The viewer is drawn to the head part while the rest of the image which to some extent is defocused completes the image and shows the environ where it was taken without competing for attention.

u held that without a tripod! god dam! i shake enough to seperate rock from gold!

althought the DOF does make you look at the head, i would have maybe gnoe one more just to bring the foot into (more) focus very good though and u have the more stead hands - EVER
