i have one of those guys that lives in the woods by my driveway...

i like the shot....the dof is agreeable..and the composition is nice.....but, i'd like to see the colors tweaked a bit...

would you mind if i tried my hand at it?

i appreciate the chance to work on such a good to begin with picture.....

i felt like the colors were a little out of whack and the shot felt "flat"....i might have got more carried away than i should have....but, basically i threw an orange gradient adjustment layer over the background, and after reducing it's opacity to my liking, i went back to the original layer and tweaked the greens and yellows...

this is the went too far part....

duplicated the original layer, blurred it, set it to screen and nudged the opacity down....duplicated that layer and set the blend to overlay and nudged the opacity again....added a vignette...

Excellent revision, Peeper. (And a very nice photo to start with Mandar).

Peeper -- I love the final effect, and I understand your first color adjustments, but would you mind explaining a little about how/why you thought to add the two blurr layers and the vingnette? It gives a lovely soft, "light from everywhere" effect but I don't think I'd know where to begin!

it's just a phase i'm going through....cuz, i like that soft fuzzy feel...

newbie, if you are asking about the glow technique, you will find tutorials about it if you search on "Orton effect." You basically create an overexposed copy of your photo on a new layer, apply a gaussian blur to it, and blend down.

Peeper, can you help with what you mean by an orange gradient adjustment layer? For some reason I am just not getting what it is you are doing there.
