Default daughter at the duck pond

I took this in the spring. The color version I hated so i converted it to black and white and cropped it a little bit. Anything else that could be done?

Great shot! I'm always impressed how a good B&W conversion can salvage a so-so color photo (particularly portraits). My only suggestion would be to crop or clone out the line from the dock/shore at top right, as it's a little distracting because of the angle.

Wonderful expression on the little girl's face!

You won't be able to crop out the line, cloning would work. Can you crop less on the left to get the whole body of the duck in? Since the girl is feeding the ducks, i'd say it's important to have the fully body in it.

deceiving picture! I was paying more attention to her than the background. She was actually trying to feed a goose that was too far away! Thanks for the cloning tip. It is the first time I have tried it. It sounds easier than it is. Practice makes perfect I suppose!

kelly,

Nice shot and nice expression. Bit tightly cropped at the bottom!
Would be more interesting if you included the goose, why not landscape orientation and different view?

palachandra,

I love the advice! sorry to say that I was focusing on Ali and not ali and the surroundings! It was more of a family archive shot so the goose was not even in the photo, regretable. I will post a photo with the goose but I don't think much can be done with it. I am open for suggestions though! (and reworking!)

Kelly,

I love the first post in terms of Ali's expression. My openion would be just to include the context that made this.... The placement composition just works fine but missing the context IMO.

Good job in second shot including the context. odark30 did good job on crop. Love the placement and close up.

Did you do B&W in post processing or from camera? If in PP could you please share original one?
