Default Candle - Part of my "Things in my house" collection

I've decided it would be really cool to set up a display of photos in my house of different things in my house (if that makes any sense).

So anyway, it sure makes you look around your normal surroundings with a different perspective. Here's a shot of a candle on my coffee table.

shutter: 1/6
aperture: f/4.5
focal length: 45mm
ISO 800, hand-held, no flash
Pentax K100D, kit 18-55 lens

PP: I sharpened a bit, converted to "antique grayscale" (I really love this effect), and increased contrast. The color photo just looked a little boring, and I really liked the subject. I think the color effect looks really nice, especially with the contrast a bit over the top, but that's definitely a personal preference.

I could have wiped the "fuzzies" off the top of the candle, though

For the rest of my "things in my house" set, go here.

Thoughts?? I'm really having a lot of fun with my new K100D, though I have to send it back today for an exchange - hot/dead pixel. Hopefully they'll be speedy with the return so I can get back to shooting.

Thanks - its kind of a cool mix between b&W and sepia. It's one of the built-in conversions in Adobe Lightroom - I love that software.

Antique grayscale is nice. I checked out your other pictures. I liked the centerpiece one.

I know how you feel about that. I've had more than 1 shot of something around my house ruined because of less than stellar dusting. Sometimes my lenses see better than my eyes.
