Nice concept here. I like the photo in general but I think that if you cloned out the branches in the top left corner of the frame and the rocks in the middle of the fame it would simplify the image and make it much better. Also I dont know if you did it on purpose but the top of the bench is in line with the sand from the beach. It makes the bench kind of blend in at that spot. I think that if you had not framed it that way it would be better. Other than that a little saturation or color adjustment to bring out the blue in the sky a little more.

Thanks for your comments.
RexK ~ I didn't intentionally line up the bench and the beach, but i can understand what you are trying to say. There was a gazebo to the left and i was trying to take that out. Heres 2 shots before i had visioned how a sillouhette shot with my fiance and I - which we were supposed to be sitting at, but she never woke up early enough ![]() odark ~ the reason the sunrise wasn't included was because i was on the south side of the island and all the buildings and land were in the way. The same goes for the sunset... what a bummer i was pretty upset after i noticed it specifically at those times. ![]() ![]()

These would be GREAT in HDR! The cloud formations really make HDR interesting.
Not the same as the real thing but here ya go: ![]() sunrise copy.jpg

![]() Adjusted levels for black and white points. Curves to increase contrast. Then curves again to brighten the bench and a gradiant mask to hide everything above the bench. This increases the contrast and makes the bench blend less with the sand. So, the critisism from me would be, the image lacks contrast (the entire image looks like the same gray tone) and the bench probably needs a little kick to draw the eye. I am an extreme amature at photgraphy as well, so take it FWIW. Thanks for posting! Last edited by pcarfan; 08-27-2007 at 02:33 AM. Reason: ok |

both the horizontal shots are good one but the vertical one cheated out at the sky level making it lifeless because of the whiteness it consists. in my view, if the sky would have been slightly darker , it woulh have complimented with the dark foreground. anyhow, i feel, under the conditions u have shot, nothing could have been done. thanks.

Thanks for the replies and critiques.
PC ~ your edits make the picture pop more. I do not know if I could have got that natuarally from where i was at. If i had focused more on the sky, the bench would have been darker. used a higher F - stop 13? maybe to get everything more in focus?? i guess i should have played around more with the polarizer. first time really using it. Goshort ~ I guess i might have missed that opportunistic timeframe. yea the vertical is robbed of that sky, but i enjoyed how the line formed along the beach. |
