I have just upgraded my camera to a Fujifilm Finepix S5700 and am still learning how to use it. I was impressed with the water photos from this newsletter http://digital-photography-school.co...blur-movement/
Here is a first attempt to capture this river. It was quite fast flowing and without waders this was as close as I could get.Comments please. ![]() oops, just noticed a thread for Slow Shutter speeds. sorry If this is posted in the wrong group. Frist off, if you wanted comments/critique on a photo this is the right place for it. As for the photo, I think that you have too much of the foreground leaves in the frame. For me they are serving as more of a distraction than they are as a frame for the shot. I would try to reshoot this one from a different angle. The exposure seems to be good tho and you really captured the motion of the water. I wonder what it would have looked like from a lower vantage point.

get a tripod so you can get a longer exposure.

Might be off topic, but how do you get the slow shutter speed without letting in too much light? I thought pictures with a slow shutter were only effective at night. (Wow that's such a noob question.) Also, when you repost, can you put how long you had the shutter open? I have a similar camera (sony h9) so I'd like to try and similate your picture.
