Cathyetta,
I love the shot here. Very cool veins on that leaf. Is it an elephant ear? Getting back to the image... I think that the blur is rather distracting on the lower part of the leaf. I assume that can be tweaked with a slight change of DOF. Otherwise I think the image is quite nice. I especially like the blurry green background.

No its not an elephant ear. I believe its called a Cardinal Vine. It has red pea pods, same color as the veins.
I see what you mean about the fuzzy blur on the bottom right. I don't know how to correct. I am so slow at getting into the editing part of photography. It's taken me 8 months to just get to know my camera let alone use all the features. I want to try to focus manually soon and maybe try some bracketing. I am learning something new everyday though.

Wow a really sharp lens!

Adding to the earlier comment, the blur appears to be distracting to me also, only because it occupies a big percentage of the image. Occasionally blurring is used as a compositional technique, to draw attention to a particular section of the image or to lead the viewers eyes to the image' focal point.

Was just wondering, did you shoot anything closer with the same subject? It may not resemble a leaf anymore, but the veins by themselves, with both the big and the fine ones as the main subject may yield an interesting composition. Just a thought.

cathyetta,
I don't know of a good way to fix the blurriness in post production. What lens did you take this with? I think if you reshot this with a smaller aperature (bigger f-stop) you could get rid of some of that blurriness in the bottom.

I used a Tamron SP AF 90mm F/2.8 Di Macro. I think it might have been one of my first shots with the new lens. I will try to reshoot it tomorrow.
