That has got to be the most adorable child portrait I have seen. Only things that bother my is that you lost the tip of his finger and also the background is distracting. While you can do much if this is the original the background can be easily fixed. Just mask out your son and blur the background more and maybe darken it a little it will help to put more focus on your subject. Or you can get rid fo the background completely and add in a different one.

I think that cutting out the crown of his head is not a problem. When I last visited London's National Portrait Gallery, I noticed this was a choice that many portrait artists (particularly photographers) made, bringing the subject closer to the viewer.
I think it might be worth not chopping off his fingers (from the original, I see you still have those) and I agree with the comments about the background. I like the way you have made the picture brighter with post-processing but wonder if you could change the angle you shoot from to get a less distracting background? Wulf |
