I think the colour adds interest here and so gets my vote. Other quick thoughts:

- There could be a bit more space between the front tyre and the left hand side of the frame.

- The top of the bike gets lost against the black; perhaps a bit more backlighting or changing the perspective so more of it is offset against the moving traffic

- Since you have some strong diagonals in the rest of the layout, I would be inclined to try and get the top of the "light ribbon" completely horizontal

- Sharpening looks a little too intense, with the halo particularly visible round the rear wheel.

Overall though, I think the set up looks like an excellent idea and I look forward to seeing your refined version.

Wulf

Thanks Wulf!

I think it all depends on what look you are going for. The color adds more oommf but the b & w has character, except for the lost handlebars.

Kunal, the setup is great, but I am wondering about the exposure time. Toward the back of the photo all the light sort of merges into a single bright streak, almost like a stripe. To my eye, that reduces a bit the sense of motion.

If you want to retain that motion in the background, would it be possible to reposition the bike, or to shorten your shutter speed, so that you get 1) more taillights (red), and 2) more individual streaks (like at the front of the bike)?

Prefer the B&W myself, colour just doesn't bring anything out of the bike. Good composition.

Both images have their merits, I'd have a hard time picking one over the other. The B&W version has a distinctly film-like quality to it.

kunaldaswani,

Are you shooting for a client? If so, what type of business?
