Talking Bath Time!

I've got my Dad's 50mm f/1.4 for a few weeks, so I'll be testing it out. Here's the first go.

This is a picture of my cat, George, taking a bath. I put a SB-600 flash right in front of him (he's so tolerant) to get the lighting effect.

Shot with a Nikon D80, 50mm @f2.8, 1/8 sec.

All feedback welcome!

Since you're using Flickr, how about posting a medium sized view of the image here. That way people will see the picture - I imagine some have skimmed through, seen no image and moved on.

Details here.

newbie,

Some have even taken a nap after 12 hours in front of the monitor. I saw it earlier and put it in a "Come back later" group. So it's later and if I have to choose between photos of cats with eyes (no tongue) or ones with tongues (no eyes), the eyes have it. That to me is always the best part. Here also is a great amount of fur. Closer to the head, eyes showing brightly, and a little more patience would improve this post.

Wulf -- I completely agree with you that a picture grabs attention more than a link. I think there has been a problem with my Flickr account, and recently have only been getting a broken link when I post as instruced on the forums:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/russheath/1219551284/" title="Photo Sharing">http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1414/1219551284_8e0c7abe0e.jpg" width="500" height="369" alt="Bath Time" />

Here is a description of what I think was causing this, in case other users have this issue:

After much frustration and reading forums on Flickr, I believe the problem is that my account with them is fairly new and has not yet been "reviewed." Apparently many people have this problem, and there is no remedy other than waiting. I have already e-mailed the folks at Flickr.

In addition, none of my photos can be found via public search until they have reviewed my account. Very frustrating! At the base of each photo on the account is a "Flag your Photo" link. Within the text box that pops up, there is no way to uncheck the box which says "hide this photo from public searches" until some administrator at Flickr has officially reviewed my account.

If you have a suggestion as to getting around this, it would be much appreciated!

JC - Thanks so much for the feedback! I too, prefer the eyes, but I think a shot of a cat taking a bath wide-eyed is somehow . . . unnatural? Anyway I'm posting another thread, just for you, to show off his eyes. Your input regarding ways to diminish reflections would be greatly appreciated.

As to your comment regarding patience -- Benjamin Franklin said, "He that can have patience can have what he will," and I certainly agree. However, in my limited observation of this forum - particularly the critique my shot thread which is very busy - the likelihood of having comments appear once a thread drops off page one is very slim. (I asked my follow-up question after this occured). Franklin also said, "Energy and persistence conquer all things."

Thanks again for the comments!

newbie,

Nothing about my habits is unique, and I always start at the last entry I made the day before, so lately I begin reading posts on page 2 or 3, working from oldest post forward.

More likely a cause for no response is wulf's observation about a photo displayed, getting more response than a link. Or we have a lot more posters than commenters. Or fewer cat fanciers.
