Ok i thought this was a picture deemed to go in the "almost" folder...

this was shot handheld

not bad, though I think it needs a tighter crop. The porportion of black to the subject matter is a bit out balance.

It doesn't actually look like fireworks to me. Sorry, but it just doesn't make it, in my opinion

Default Hmm..

I like the shot, but a tighter crop would definitely be nice, maybe a few basic adjustment to make the picture pop a little harder. I don't think it looks like fireworks either, but I think it looks interesting... I'd say post process a little more before you toss it.

I'll agree with it being an almost. It looks like you either set the shutter speed for too fast or hit the button too early.

Try for something a bit more like this

Octopus

Or maybe even something a bit more unconventional

It has a strong impact - the colours catch the eye. How about cropping it to portrait orientation to reduce the blank areas on either side?
