Hey all, this is my first post. I'm brand new to photography. I had to mess with the levels a lot on this one, as I'm horrible at figuring out how to light shots well. However, I loved the moment and thought I'd share.

How strange... the cat's tongue looks translucent, I'm guessing that's because the exposure was longer than the time the cat's tongue was out.
One tip for better lighting is to play with the interaction between shutter speed, ISO, and aperture (if you don't want to use flash). You can open the aperture and increase the ISO if you want your picture to be lighter and it will let you use a faster shutter speed. You just need to be aware of the impact of changing these settings, like less of the picture being in focus (larger aperture) and more noise in the picture (higher ISO). I'm sure if you post some information about the camera you used and the settings you used people could help you out even more.

I have been reading up on ISO/Aperture/Shutter speed combinations and some newer pictures I took are turning out much better.
I know there's a way to decrease the flash as well, but can't figure out how to do it. The camera I'm using is a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D. Settings for this pic were: Shutter priority mode Aperture: f/5.6 ISO: 400 300 mm |
