Default critique pic

Specs:

Nikon D200 with 18-200mm VR lens
Pic taken at 18mm, F10 , 1/30s, ISO 640

Used photoshop to apply the warming filter.

I wished I could have gotten a little more depth of field, however, I was losing light and was minus my tripod at the time. I had to go to ISO 640 to get the shutter speed fast enough for hand holding so that it was in focus.

First it is a beautiful lake but there is too much lake. And too much of one color. Thats my opinion anyway. What you could do if you want to is is to take your magic wand and pick out sections of your photo and edit those sections to a warming effect or sunset or sunrise colors and even to bring the birds in the water to alittle more life.

You mean only apply the warming filter to the ducks and the sky? Would you suggest cropping out part of the lake?

Not necessarily. The option is yours and a matter of taste. But there are other filters you can use to different parts of the photo. If this is the look you were going for then its great but honestly how often do you see a landscape where the sky, trees, water and wildlife are all the same color?
The sky to me looks like is just full and alive of different colors.
To me the colors just dont look natural, what did the orginal picture look like?

I hope you dont mind but I went ahead and cropped it down so the waterfowl are more prominet and then tried to add some color intot he sky. It was a super quick job and isnt really all that good considering there was all ready a darker effect on it.

Not at all. I love the fact that you are willing to show me what you are talking about. I need to get a little better with photoshop. My skillz are definately limited in the editing realm. I do see what you mean though and I definately like it. I just have no idea how you did it.

Oh my, I lOVE the orginal picture much better.
What I did was to apply a filter effect Sunset effect with different color filters) to the sky and then tried to paint a little color onto parts of the sky with a very light opacity and a large paint brush. I also used the crop tool to cut it down a atd.
What program are you using? I am no expert by any means and what i have learned is what i have learned from others on different forums and trial and error. But I would still be happy to share with you what i can

Hi - I think the original is better without the filtration. But I also think it needs a point of interest other than the great sky and reflection. And ideally that should be in the right foreground IMHO...
