Default Solarize

Solarize

From Spring of last year, in full sun with the Fuji FinePix S3100

Settings were auto-everything; new camera, old photographer.

Lots of scrub brush behind tree, very distracting. Shooting skyward helped.

Used Negative, Solarize, Saturate and Contrast in PhotoDeluxe.

This started as a project to remember an area about to be bulldozed.

Got adventurous in post-production; didn't delete an otherwise bland pic

Hoping to find out here what would improve this.

I've just figured out how to see which posts in the "Critique My Shot" section never got a response - you can click on the "replies" column heading then the little square that appears to do a reverse sort. There is at least a page of requests that might have got many views but gleaned no comments.

I was curious to travel back in time and see what Jiminy was up to earlier this year (not least because he regularly offers useful comment on other people's pictures and has posted some superb shots himself).

And my critique? This one is a bit garish. There are some places where it might be handy but it pales in comparison (if that is an appropriate choice of word for such a purple picture) against the beauty of the photos and the skill of the post-processing that you have been demonstrating recently.

wulf,

Deja View all over again . . . imagine my surprise to see this one resurrected. It was a response at that early point in DPS, to seeing so much wonderful bright lively color in others' photos. Mine were consistently dull, underexposed and lifeless. So I tried this. Since then, thank you wulf and DPS, many better ways to improve an image have come my way.
