Default My little elf

Hi

This is a picture of my son, taken yesterday. These are my fisrt attempts to use Photoshop, so I don't know much.
Please give your opinions on the after picture, how can I improve it?

Hi Andreea, your son is absolutely adorable! For being a beginner at Photoshop, I think you did a pretty good job with selected color. My only objection is that now I notice the colored parts before I notice your son. This is my personal opinion, though and I'm sure others will like the selected color. I think the b&w seems to have lost some of the definition in his hands. His eyes are beautiful, though and I love the leaves in his hair.

awww! I prefer the color version. I think the b&w parts in the 2nd one look washed out and as saralonde said, the color parts distract from the real subject, which is your son.

I really like this picture but I would have kept it in color. I focused on the flowers instead of the baby. If you really wanted to keep it in B&W I would make sure to use the color of the baby's eyes to make the focus more on the baby than on the flowers and leaves. Very Cute!!

I prefer the original. The only PS work I would do would be to get rid of the distractions in the background - such as the fence at bottom right, the odd shape by his left elbow, and whatever it is below his right arm.
